The final farewell: Balboa Out

    0
The final farewell for our Balboa group. We survived 52 weeks together. 55 started and 44 remained on what was the craziest adventure any of us had every been on. Strangers now family, we sadly were at the end of our trip. Ten countries lived in and many more visited. Too many memories to count and so many things we will always cherish. To all...

Ending the journey in Mexico City

Many countries fall victim to this but Mexico might get it the worst. Most people from the States have been there. They’ve went to an all-inclusive resort in Cancún or Cabo for Spring break or a quick weekend away. They got shuttled straight from the airport to their resort where they drank their sorrows away within the confines of said resort. They said “Hola or...

Bringing in the New Year in Bogotá

    0
After spending Christmas with my family in the states, I headed back to Colombia for New Years. We moved from Medellín to Bogotá on December 29 so we didn’t have much time to prepare for the New Year’s celebrations. Many people were out of town for this but a handful of us stuck around. Having had the distinct pleasure of visiting Emily while in Lisboa, my wife Jeanine, and I can attest to the accuracy of all she writes about. Portugal, and Lisboa particularly, are both fascinating and well worth the trip. Food was not only extraordinarily well prepared and served, but reasonable in the extreme, and no tipping, making the end result amazingly inexpensive. Great wine was $3-$7...
