Puerto Viejo

Puerto Viejo is a small surf town on the Caribbean coast of Costa Rica.  There were a lot of choices for places to head to in Costa Rica and Tamarindo on the Pacific Coast was my second choice but upon arriving I can see I made a good choice (not that either of them was a bad choice).  It’s a sleepy beach town surrounded by beaches and jungle, brought to life mostly with backpackers and surfers.   Playa Cocles seems to be the most popular beach just south of the town and many of the ‘hotels’ sit on Playa Negra which runs north of the town.

I tried a Selena co-working hostel to stay in.  We worked in a Selina in Medellin and several fellow travelers had stayed with them as they moved around.  I mainly chose it for the location right on the beach and the coworking and wifi access.   It’s a bit more rustic than as advertised, and not without its issues, but it is allowing me to work and enjoy the beach so it’s an...
